Big Portrait Panorama!

This week I was shooting in San Francisco and had the pleasure of working with the band Battlehooch. I shot a big ole Panorama in their living room while they were practicing. I used a 7 foot shoot through umbrella from Westcott and an AlienBees B800 Studio strobe for the KeyLight and a 430EXii for the back light. I lit each person individually and stitched together 8 or 9 images in post.

Photo Expansion

Here's an expansion image created with 8 exposures in almost pitch black lighting. I had the Iso cranked and I was using the light on my iPhone to individually light each part of the image over multiple exposures. I then stitched them all together in photo shop, edited the image then sized it down to a JPG from the original 9GB composite.

Animating Logos

Today I'm working with animating inanimate corporate logos. Not too flashy, not too distracting. Minimalism can sometimes be key. Essentially breathing a little life into a still image.

Lusk Build 1

working on a company logo. For this, I took an image, masked it in photoshop and monotonized it then sent it to to Illustrator to be extruded; converted it to a vectorized format, then copied the paths to After Effects were I put it in Element 3d and extruded it even further and created the 3d text... Circular ramp back ground, 4 point light set up and animated the motion and cameras. It's kind of a lengthy process but I've done it quite a few times now so I'm pretty fast at it. Next I plan on doing a very similar process but running it through Cinema 4d to be fractured before I send it over to Element 3d in AE.

Super Quick Headshots

I had a really quick headshot session this week. We had to make due with whatever background we could find in the studio so I ended up dropping a few generic slates behind them to give them more options. Here's a few of the captures we got. I love shooting with the 7 foot shoot through umbrellas from Westcott! Such a great light source! The last one on here I actually used an expansion method. I took multiple images and stitched them together to get the ultra tall image with minimal warping.

Dodgeball

I had a blast this passed Wednesday shooting and playing dodgeball with Jr High and High School students from all over central Arkansas! These kids weren't just playing around though! One of the coolest things that I saw was a high school student that lasted for a good 10 minutes by HIMSELF! His whole team had been eliminated. He was the last man standing and he took out all but two of the opposing 10 players single handed! Check out some of the hilights that made the 10 pm news that night!

Gary Green(day)

I just met with Gary Green for tonight's piece. He's a very well spoken man, and I enjoyed visiting with him. Incase you're out of the loop, there have been multiple fatalities (Central Arkansas) this month from Pit bull attacks. Gary tells us what you need to know to protect yourself from prosecution. At 10pm on #KATV #GaryGreen

Mosaic

Today I visited Mosaic Church in Little Rock.

Lost Graves

You may not have heard of Oakland Cemetery, but these stones have stories to tell... If you can find them.

So far they are only a tenth of the way through the grounds. There are many more mysteries to uncover! If you'd like to take one of those tours - the very first one led by Jannelle herself will be this Saturday, November 2nd. It's only $15 and it's sure to be a lot of fun. Halloween

It's Halloween! It seems like I look forward to this holiday more than most, but inevitably, once it gets here I'm just not ready for it. I worked 120 hours last pay period and I've been extremely busy preparing for the beginning of sweeps... so busy that I haven't had the time to decorate my new place with my usual ghosts and decapitated ghouls. Instead of all that nonsense, this year I focused on making some cool videos for our Halloween special here at KATV Channel 7. Check out a few of the videos right here!

Here's a fun little open I shot and edited for the KATV daybreak crew (for our Halloween special). Comp in after effects. Color correcting in LightRoom.

Here's another show open I shot and edited for KATV's Halloween special.

Terry Lang Jones - I Will Speak

I recently had the pleasure and honor of Telling the ever evolving story of Terry Lang Jones. From selling over 5 milllion records with Point of Grace, to full-time mother, to solo artist! Check out the story here!

Shot and Edited by Justin Kroger. Written by Christina Munoz. Today her life is similar to many other Little Rock moms with three kids... But she's probably the only one that can say she has sold millions of albums and performed in front of sold-out arenas. The story of Terry Lang Jones...

Quitman

Today my job took me to Quitman Arkansas, where I shot video for a sweeps piece airing in November. Like me, you have probably never heard of Quitman. It's a little town right passed Guy Arkansas, going east away from Conway. We met up with a young man who two weeks previously had to be air lifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital from the football field in Quitman. We interviewed the faculty and staff at the high school their, just to talk about football safety; then later that night I grabbed some hilights from the game to air on our "Friday Night Touchdowns" segment that airs on channel 7.

Point Of Grace

Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Terry Jones, formerly of the group Point Of Grace. Terry welcomed us into her house to talk a little bit about her new solo album "I Will Speak."  You can see the interview during sweeps month coming this November.
